Magnetic Particle Testing
Magnetic Particle Testing involves the magnetisation of a component or part, followed by the application of ferromagnetic particles. The particles align along discontinuities in the surface, or shallow sub-surface. This method is used to test welds, castings, and forgings etc. However, testing can only be carried out on ferromagnetic metals.
Shore-NDT performs MPI inspections either on-site, at our facility or at the premises of our client. Magnetic Particle Inspection can be carried out using the colour contrast (black and white), or the fluorescent method. Our service includes a fully portable fluorescent MT capability with the use of mobile dark rooms.
Our facility can cater for large volumes using this method along with our innovative equipment.
