Ultrasonic is a high frequency of sound pulses that are emitted from a transducer or probe which propagate in the object or material tested. The reflected sound waves received by the transducer are then transformed into an electrical signal and it’s intensity shown on the display unit. The thickness of the material and the depth and type of a flaw can be ascertained using this method. The method can be applied to most materials if sound transmission is good. High sensitive results can often be obtained.

We utilise the latest types of transducers, which enables us to guage thicknesses to a minimum of 1mm.
We currently adapt this technique along with fluorescent surface testing within our vessel integrity survey.
Shore-NDT’s vessel integrity survey helps our clients to predict and plan when a vessel or part should be repaired or replaced.
This service can also be applied on silo’s, hoppers, boilers etc. Click for quotation.
Shore-NDT offers this service onsite and at the premises of our clients.
